A Chipmans Corner home is in rough shape following a late-night blaze that broke out Thursday evening.
Multiple Kings County-based fire departments teamed up to tackle the fire, which was reported around 11:30 p.m. Jan. 16.
Investigators remained on the scene lining Middle Dyke Road the following morning, searching for indications of a cause.

 Scott Hamilton, first deputy chief with the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department, said there was a working fire in a single room on the lower level of the house when firefighters arrived on scene.
They soon learned, however, that the flames found an express route to the attic.  
“The fire travelled through the wall space, up to the attic,” said Hamilton, noting that it is believed it could have spread through a pipe.
The subzero temperatures and rate at which the flames travelled created some challenging conditions for the responding firefighters, he added.
The split-level home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage on the lower level, and water damage throughout the structure.
The lone occupant of the home was not injured, Hamilton said.
